How to judge plumbing work
Most plumbing emergencies are the visible end of a slow problem: a supply line that has been weeping behind drywall, a water heater whose anode rod gave up years ago, or a drain line that has been narrowing with scale. The value of a good plumber is largely in catching the slow version before it becomes the loud one.
Water pressure, pipe material and water chemistry interact more than most homeowners expect. Hard water shortens fixture life; pressure above roughly 80 psi stresses every joint in a house. Asking what a plumber measures — not just what they replace — is a fair way to judge one.
| Component | Typical service interval | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Water heater flush | Annually | Sediment reduces efficiency and shortens tank life |
| Anode rod check | 2–4 years | A spent rod moves corrosion to the tank itself |
| Supply hoses (washer) | Replace every 5 years | Burst hoses are a leading cause of water damage |
| Main shutoff exercise | Annually | A seized valve turns a small leak into a large one |
| Drain line inspection | As symptoms appear | Slow drains often precede a full blockage |
What customers say
Very positive experience. Scheduling was easy and they charged a reasonable rate and were very clear about what needed (and what didn't need) to be done. I really appreciated their help!
Brandon Colas
Very pleasant experience from scheduling the appointment to the arrival of our plumber. Leah was very helpful with the estimate and setting an appointment. David Smith arrived promptly and had communicated via text his status. Very polite young man. The kitchen faucet and disposal install was quick and easy. Well worth the money spent on the services. Thanks again to Vessels.

Call (502) 418-5300Les showed up with his very knowledgeable helper, I can not remember her name, but they worked great together and snaked two drains and did the great job I am used to getting from Vessels. Thanks folks, I will be telling everyone about you and how good you are at what you do.
